Smart shoppers can find many ways to cut down on the cost of their spa visits. Read on to learn how to find discounts as well as the best spa deals.

Shop Around

Inquire about spa discounts and specials when booking appointments. Find out if your local spa has any discounts, such as lower rates by new estheticians or massage therapists that you can take advantage of.

Ask if your local spa offers memberships. At the chain Massage Envy, a monthly $49 membership provides members with one monthly massage and additional special discounts. In New York City, the Great Jones Spa, Oasis, and the Haven all have membership programs. While annual memberships must be paid up front, the cost of services annually via memberships is substantially reduced.

Unless you have a membership or belong to a spa with a reward incentive program, don’t feel obligated to book all your services at one spa. Branch out and take advantage of specials offered by spas new to your area. For instance at Facelogic Spas facelogic.com introductory customized 50-minute facials for new clients are only $49.

Timeframe

Some spas and hot springs charge higher prices on weekends. Find out if your local spa does and see if they offer reduced prices or two-for-one specials on certain days. Destination spas generally offer their best deals mid-week. A four-day visit starting on Sunday can cost less than a three-day visit starting on Thursday. Check getaway deals and add up the prices of individual services to ensure you’re getting the best deal.

In the Northeast, rates fall in the winter and are highest in the summer months. In the Southwest rates are highest in the winter and lowest in the hot summer months.

Summer Savings

Many spas offer seasonal discount and summer specials. The spas of Miami-Dade and Broward counties offer month-long spa programs and discounted treatmentsin July at some of the priciest spas. Spas on this list are participating in this event. Miami is also hosting a Miami Spa Month offering April Spa Week's heavily discounted prices in July.

Frequent Flyers

Some spas such as the Lake Austin Spa Resort in Austin, Texas, have bonus programs in which points are earned for every spa visit. The points can be used for spa services. The Aveda Spa chain has a program in which the purchase of products earns points that can be cashed in for spa gift certificates.

Web Specials

Many spas post online specials on their websites. Some spas, such as Body Natural Salon and Spa in Washington, Missouri offer a 10 percent discount just for mentioning their website. Discount spa coupons can also be found at retailmenot, spafinder, and spaflyer.

Coupons and Other Discounts

Spa discount coupons can also be found in the coupon section found after the yellow pages in many local phone books. The weekend and lifestyle sections of local newspapers also print coupons for local spas and announcements of special deals.

Many employers also participate in programs that offer their employees spa discounts. For instance, University of North Carolina employees are eligible for discounts to their local Aveda spa. Check with your human resource department to see if your workplace has an affiliation with local spas.
